NUR 340 - Adult Health Nursing I

This course integrates, unites and builds upon the knowledge gained from Fundamentals of Professional Nursing Practice, Pathophysiology, and Health Assessment for the Professional Nurse in developing the clinical role of the professional nurse. Research-based learnings and applicable theoretical frameworks are offered to help the student explore how the professional nurse applies the nursing process when caring for and assisting adult and geriatric patients experiencing common and chronic health problems.  An emphasis is place on the client as a member of a family unit living in diverse environments.  Emphasis will be placed on concepts of health promotion, risk reduction and disease prevention.  Primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention and interventions are discussed in relationship to the care of these patients.
