Tuition Discounts
Discounts are based upon available funding and may not be combined with other discounts or scholarships. Only one discount will be applied per course. If a student is eligible for more than one discount on the same course, the larger discount will be applied.
No discounts will be applied for the doctorate programs.
Alumni Discount
Students who have graduated from Fontbonne University are eligible for a 15% tuition discount. This discount is tracked according to students’ alumni status and applied to the student account each semester. This discount is only applied to tuition and may not be used during a semester in which courses are billed at a reduced rate (such as Summer undergraduate, audit courses, etc.). In addition, students cannot combine this discount with other forms of institutional aid (i.e. Fontbonne grants, scholarships, additional tuition discounts, etc.).
Educator’s Discount
In appreciation of the services offered to our community by educators at all levels, Fontbonne University offers a 15% tuition discount to qualified individuals enrolled in graduate coursework. This discount is only applied to tuition and may not be used during a semester in which courses are billed at a reduced rate (such as audit courses, etc.). Qualified educators (teachers or paraprofessionals) include those who work at least half time in a nursery school, a pre-K through 12 school system or post-secondary institution. Application forms can be obtained from your department and must be filled out in its entirety each semester.
Military Discount
As a special recognition of service to our country, all service members and veterans are eligible for a 15% tuition discount. This discount is only applied to tuition and may not be used during a semester where courses are billed at a reduced rate (such as Summer undergraduate, audit courses, etc.). In addition, students may also utilize tuition assistance and VA benefits such as the Post 9-11 GI Bill. A tuition discount form must be completed at the start of your program in order to verify your Military status with the appropriate documentation and will then be applied each semester you are enrolled moving forward. In addition, students cannot combine this discount with other forms of institutional aid (i.e. Fontbonne grants, scholarships, additional tuition discounts, etc.).
Corporate Discount
Students employed with a corporation that collaborates with Fontbonne University are eligible for a corporate discount. This discount must be requested each semester using the tuition discount form that can be obtained in the Financial Services Office located in Ryan Hall, room 209/215. This discount is only applied to tuition and may not be used during a semester in which courses are billed at a reduced rate (such as Summer undergraduate, audit courses, etc.). In addition, students cannot combine this discount with other forms of institutional aid (i.e., Fontbonne grants, scholarships, additional tuition discounts, etc.).
**Enrollment changes that result in changes to tuition charges may also result in adjustments to a tuition discount amount.
Audit
A student who wishes to attend a course but not be obligated to complete assignments or take examinations may register to audit a course. The student is responsible for any fee required for the course. No credit is given for courses that are audited. Ordinarily, studio or lab courses are not eligible for audit.
Graduate: $400 per course
Payment of Accounts
Accounts are due in advance for each semester. Payment-in-full, less any financial aid must be received by the following dates:
- Summer 2019 - May 15, 2019
- Fall 2019 - July 15, 2019
- Spring 2020 - December 15, 2019
A $25 late fee will be assessed for payments received after these specified due dates, and for each month moving forward that the account remains unpaid. For students who are registering after these dates, payment is due upon registration.
Students have the option of enrolling in a semester based payment plan. Fontbonne University has contracted with Cashnet to provide a payment plan that will allow monthly payments without interest charges. Students can enroll in their payment plan starting directly from their student portal at www.fontbonne.edu/griffinportal. From there, click My Ledger>Make Payment through CashNet> Enroll in semester Installment Plan.
If a student chooses the option of a payment plan, the above due dates still apply. Payment plans must be established by those dates to avoid a late fee. Payments will then be due on the 15th of each month according to the semester installment plan the student is enrolled.
To pay by mail, make a check payable to Fontbonne University and send to:

When paying in person, please note the Cashier’s Office only accepts cash or check. We no longer accept debit/credit cards in person, but can assist you in making that payment online through Cashnet using one of our iPads in the office.
Students may also pay online through Cashnet using Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express. The option of payment using electronic check is also available online through Cashnet. Please note - there will be a convenience fee applied to each transaction total when paying with a debit or credit card. This convenience fee is 2.75% (or 4.25% for all international debit/credit cards).
Failure to make payments for tuition, fees, or other amounts owed the University when due, or failure to arrange for such payment plans before their due dates, is considered sufficient cause to 1. Bar the student from registering for courses, and/or 2. Withhold the transcript of record, certificate, or diploma.
The Board of Trustees of Fontbonne University reserves the right to change established tuition, fees, and services, to add additional fees and services, and to determine the effective date of such changes without prior notice.
