SWK 251 - Palliative and Hospice Care Credit(s): 3 This course provides a basic background on historical and contemporary perspectives on death, dying, and bereavement. Emphasis is given to current American practices regarding palliative care, death, the grief process, care of the dying and dead, meeting the needs of the bereaved, and spiritual and ethical dimensions of death and dying. This course is recommended for students who understand death and dying as fundamental aspects of the human experience and/or are interested in careers related to social work, palliative care, healthcare, geriatrics, and ministry.
