Payment of Accounts

Accounts are due in advance for each semester. Payment-in-full, less any financial aid must be received by the following dates:

  • Summer 2020 - May 15, 2020
  • Fall 2020 - July 15, 2020
  • Spring 2021 - December 15, 2020

A $25 late fee will be assessed for payments received after these specified due dates, and for each month moving forward that the account remains unpaid. For students who are registering after these dates, payment is due upon registration.

Students have the option of enrolling in a semester based payment plan.  Fontbonne University has contracted with Cashnet to provide a payment plan that will allow monthly payments without interest charges. Students can enroll in their payment plan starting directly from their student portal by logging into GriffinNet.  From there, click My Ledger>Make Payment through CashNet> Enroll in semester Installment Plan.

If a student chooses the option of a payment plan, the above due dates still apply.  Payment plans must be established by those dates to avoid a late fee.  Payments will then be due on the 15th of each month according to the semester installment plan the student is enrolled.

To pay by mail, make a check payable to Fontbonne University and send to:

Student Account Refunds

Fontbonne University’s refund process provides you with quick access to your funds with direct deposit into your personal checking or savings account. Access to your money is quick and convenient. Go to www.fontbonne.afford.com and follow the simple enrollment steps.

Notice

Student receiving Financial Aid/Federal Title IV Financial Aid who wish to withdraw from Fontbonne University must complete the official University withdrawal process. Students must begin the withdrawal process online. The form must be filled out completely including signatures from Financial Services and the Registrar’s Office.

For students receiving Federal Title IV Aid, the Financial Services Office will complete a calculation according to the Return of Title IV guidelines set by the Department of Education. Should this calculation result in a balance due the student must pay that balance to Fontbonne University. Failure to pay this balance will result in a hold on the student account which will prevent future registration and the ability to obtain a transcript.

Students will receive written notification of the adjustments to the financial aid package, which will indicate if a post-withdrawal disbursement is allowed. Students receiving Institutional grant or scholarships will receive a prorated amount based on the tuition adjustment schedule.

Failure to properly withdrawal from the University will result in the adjustment of financial aid after the end of the semester. Therefore, it is imperative that students follow the University withdrawal process.

Room and Board Refunds

Withdrawal from a residence hall will be prorated on the same basis as tuition and fees. The room deposit will be refunded subject to any outstanding financial obligation to the University.

Extenuating Circumstances Tuition Appeal Policy

Fontbonne University will review a request for a tuition credit provided you meet the requirements described below. Appeals that do not present a sound basis for reimbursement will be denied.  Students with approved medical or extenuating withdrawals may be eligible for up to an 80% credit of tuition if approved before the end of the next semester following the withdrawal.

Students must be officially withdrawn from all courses for the semester before an appeal can be reviewed. Depending on the complexity of the appeal and receipt of all supporting documentation, the processing time may be a month or more. Appeals will not be considered if an appeal was granted in the previous semester  (for example, if you are appealing your Spring 2020 tuition assessment you cannot also have appealed Fall 2019 or be eligible to appeal for Summer 2020).  Submission of a tuition appeal must be initiated by the student or with their expressed authorization.

If a student received financial aid for the term identified in the appeal, the submission of a tuition appeal could impact the student’s financial aid and result in money owed. It is recommended that students discuss these implications with the Financial Aid office before submitting an appeal.  If the student is a recipient of Veteran’s Benefits, the appeal should be discussed with the Veteran’s Educational Benefits certifying officials before proceeding with the request.

Filing a tuition appeal does not exempt a student account from the assessment of collection and/or financial penalties. If approved, the tuition credit will be held for up to two years.  At any time during that two year period, the student may elect to receive 50% of that credit in the form of a refund.
